Detective Bureau

The main function of the Detective Bureau is to provide follow up or secondary investigations for matters that are more serious in nature such as 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd or 4^th degree crimes. In many instances, our detectives work together with the Patrol Division in order to address illegal activity such as underage drinking, the sale and distribution of illegal drugs and residential burglaries.  The bureau also investigates domestic and family matters such as child abuse and domestic violence.

In addition to addressing criminal matters our bureau provides a host of in house and administrative functions such as facilitating background checks for specific agencies and employers, sex offender registration, property evidence and Alcoholic Beverage Commission licensing for local business establishments.

Our detectives also handle juvenile matters and work hand in hand with the Patrol Division and the Board of Education on matters regarding school violence.
