1/19/2012
3:43 PM - Officer Parsels took a report from four juveniles who reported that a female from a Bloomfield Avenue residence had approached them and asked for assistance in carrying two boxes into her apartment. The juveniles declined to assist and continued walking but felt uncomfortable with the request as the boxes were small and the female did not ask anyone else in the area for assistance. Attempt to contact the female at the residence were unsuccessful.

3:46 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report from GNC in Pilgrim Plaza for a check that was given to them by a Montclair resident and was returned for insufficient funds. The store owner was advised of complaint procedures.

7:37 AM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of Criminal Mischief at Forest Avenue School. Unknown actor pulled a six foot metal railing from the ground in the rear of the school.

4:37 PM - Officer Shafer took a report of harassing phone calls from a Westview Road resident. The calls were from an unknown male who was asking her to accept a package.  Resident was advised to contact her telephone provider for additional assistance.

5:22 PM - Officer Barone took a report of a theft of jewelry at Annie Sez. A customer had removed her ring to try on clothing and left it in the dressing room. Upon realizing she had forgotten the ring she returned to the store. Employees had located the ring, smashed and minus the stone in the fitting room prior to the customers return.

7:11 PM - Officer David Wardrope arrested William Mueller of Paterson on outstanding warrants from Union County and Newark Municipal courts. Subject was processed and turned over to the Union County Sheriffs office.

11:46 AM - Officer Anthony O'Connor took a report of harassment from a Bloomfield Avenue resident. The resident reports finding a bag of household goods and a note on her porch which she believes is from a former friend that she has been having an ongoing dispute.

12:55 AM - Lt. Chris Kiernan and Officer Erin McGarrity effected a motor vehicle stop on Pompton Avenue of a vehicle that was wanted by the New Jersey State Police for a leaving the scene of an accident in East Orange. The operator of the vehicle, Sian Liebenberg of Cedar Grove was arrested for Driving while intoxicated after it was determined that she had an odor of alcohol on her breath. Subject was processed and released to a family member. The vehicle was impounded under John

10:52 AM - Sgt. Stephen Depoe took a report of harassing phone calls that were being received by an employee at Hardbodyz Fitness. Caller was advised of complaint procedures.

5:18 PM - Officer Shafer took a report of a dog bite on Parkhurst Place. The resident reported that his dog was bitten by a neighbor.

9:05 AM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of criminal mischief to a utility box located at Fairview Ave and Sampson Drive. The utility company was notified of damage and that repairs were necessary.

5:42 PM - Officer Tim Banta took a report of a suspicious phone call from a Woodland Avenue resident. The caller was asking for information regarding the resident.

6:05 PM - Officer Page Parsels responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to the Verona High School on a report of an injured wrestler. After treatment by the rescue squad the subject was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital.

7:28 PM - Officers Robert Shafer, Mike Barone and Page Parsels were dispatched to Hillcrest Farms on a report of suspicious persons on the property. Upon arrival no subjects were located on the property but damage was observed to several greenhouses and vehicles that were parked on the property. Value of damage is unknown at this time.

7:52 PM - Sgt Watkins arrested Anthony Pereira of Bloomfield on an outstanding warrant from the Verona Municipal Court. After processing, the subject posted bail and was released.

3:02 PM - Officer Page Parsels responded to a Meadow Lane residence on a report of a suspicious person. The resident reported her dogs began barking, and upon looking out the rear window, she observed a Hispanic male walking off of her deck. The area was checked by officers with negative results.

4:37 PM - Officer Parsels effected a motor vehicle stop on Pompton Avenue. A check of the operator showed an outstanding warrant for the operator, Daniel Nelson of Montclair. Subject was arrested, possessed and released with a new court date.

5:00 PM - Sgt. Paul Watkins effected a motor vehicle stop on Bloomfield Avenue for an observed violation. While speaking with the operator of the vehicle a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the operator, Ashly Tondi of Linden, to be in possession of CDS. Subject was arrested, processed and released with a court date.

5:49 PM - Officer Tim Banta impounded a motor vehicle on Mt. Prospect Avenue following a motor vehicle stop. The vehicle, which was operated by an Irvington resident, had a suspended registration.

8:20 AM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of malicious mischief from a Fairway Avenue resident. The resident reported that on Sunday, an unknown actor threw several eggs at the passenger side of her vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. Several eggs were also found on the front lawn. The eggs have since been washed off and there was no report of any damage.

9:31 AM - Sgt. Stephen DePoe responded to a Park Avenue residence and took a report of malicious mischief. The resident reported sometime overnight, someone cut his hot tub cover and left several empty beer cans in his yard. The piece of hot tub cover was found near a neighbor

5:32 PM - Officer Timothy Banta responded to Walgreens on Claremont Avenue and took a report of a larceny. The store manager reported an individual reported observing a male in the store attempting to conceal several items. Upon checking, the manager observed the male leave the store. A check of merchandise revealed several fragrance gift sets and clothing were missing from the shelves. Subject described as a white male, 5

10:37 PM - Officer Banta and Shafer responded to Montclair Police Headquarters to take custody of Christopher Morant on an outstanding warrant from the Verona Municipal Court. Subject was released after appearing in court.

11:15 AM - Dispatcher Walter Graulich took a report of a wallet found at Pilgrim Plaza. The owner was located and the property returned.

11:25 AM - Officer Anthony O'Connor took a report of an unlawful entry to Hillcrest Farms on Bloomfield Avenue. Nothing was reported missing, but damage was observed to several vehicles that were parked on the property.

10:35 PM - Officer Dave Wardrope arrested Brian Schnurr of Verona on outstanding warrants from Essex Fells after his vehicle was stopped for having an expired registration. After possessing, the subject was released with a new court date.

03:55 AM - While on patrol Sgt. Michael Traettino observed a vehicle parked against the flow of traffic on Cypress Ave. As he approached the vehicle it pulled away from the curb. A check of the license plate revealed the vehicle was stolen out of Newark. The vehicle then left the area at a high rate of speed traveling on Grove Avenue to Bloomfield Avenue eastbound.

10:16 AM - Officer Joel Martin arrested Jordan Hillman of Montclair on an outstanding Warrant from the Roseland Municipal Court. Subject was processed and released with a January court date.

3:05 PM - Officer Page Parsels took a report of a theft from a Bloomfield Avenue business.

3:52 PM - While officers were responding to a burglar alarm at a Mountain Road residence Officer Tim Banta observed a suspicious male walking on Mountain Road. The subject was stopped while additional officers responded to check the house with the alarm. Officers located a broken window in the rear of the home. After further investigation the subject Andrew Goldberg was arrested and charged with 3 counts of burglary, 2 counts of receiving stolen property, 2 counts of possession of burglary tools and one count of drug paraphernalia. Subject was transferred to the Essex County Correctional facility and is being held on $150,000.

10:35 PM - Officer Tim Banta effected a motor vehicle stop on Pompton Avenue. After speaking with the operator it was determined that they were unlicensed. Summons were issued and the vehicle was impounded.

12:35 PM - Officer Frazee took a report of property damage to a vehicle on South Prospect St.

7:47 PM - Officer Tim Banta responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a report of a kitchen fire at a Bloomfield Avenue Apartment. The fire was extinguished and minor damage was observed in the kitchen area.

7:28 AM - Officer O'Connor responded along with the Rescue Squad to a report of a person who fell on Green Acres Drive. After treatment the victim was transported to Mountainside Hospital.

9:59 AM - Officer Frazee took a report of an injury to a dog that was bitten by a dog running at large on Pease Avenue.

3:56 PM - Officer Michael Barone effected a motor vehicle stop on Pompton Avenue after a random check of a license plate showed the vehicle to be unregistered. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was also uninsured. Summonses were issued and the vehicle was impounded.

9:49 PM - Officer Barone responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a transformer fire on Park Avenue. An electrical wire was observed burning next to a house. Minor damage was observed to the residence.

6:22 AM - Officer Steven Young responded to a Morningside Road location and took a report of a dispute between neighbors.

7:35 AM - Officer Anthony O'Connor responded to a Woodland Avenue residence and took a report of a stolen vehicle. The resident reported that sometime overnight his Mercedes was stolen from the driveway. The vehicle information was entered into the state computer system.

9:27 AM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to a report of a person who fell. The subject had several lacerations due to the fall and was transported to the hospital.

1:19 PM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of property damage to a motor vehicle on Linden Avenue.

9:32 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli and the Verona Rescue Squad responded to a Pompton Avenue business on a report of a shoulder injury. A Cedar Grove resident was evaluated and transportation to the hospital was not needed.

10:06 AM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of a verbal threat from a Bloomfield Avenue businessman.

4:16 PM - Officer Barone responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a Bloomfield Avenue location where two people were trapped in an elevator. The Verona Fire Department was able to free the individuals form the elevator and no injuries were reported.

5:55 PM - Officer Barone responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to Mt Prospect Avenue for a person who fell. After treatment the person declined transportation to the hospital.

6:20 PM - Officer David Wardrope arrested Leonard Aiello who had been sentenced to jail while in the Municipal Court. After processing subject was transported to the Essex County Jail.

7:48 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a theft from a Pine Street resident.

7:49 AM - Sgt. Stephen Depoe responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to Linn Drive for a report of a person who slipped and fell on the ice. After treatment the subject was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital.

12:23 PM - Lt. Bruce Smith took a report from a postal worker who reported that a residents dog jumped through a window as she was delivering the mail. No injuries were reported

5:44 PM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of an identity theft from a Loiusburg Square resident.

7:44 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Verona Pool Parking lot.

9:07 PM - Numerous Officers responded to a report of an underage party in progress on Kips Ridge. Officers located approximately 50 juveniles in the residence with open containers of alcohol. Information was obtained from all juveniles and they were turned over to a parent.

8:40 PM Sgt. Watkins observed several juveniles run from the gazebo area of Verona Park. The youths were located on an adjacent street and found to be in possession of alcoholic beverages.

7:26 AM - Officer Martin responded with the Verona Fire Department to an odor of gas in the area of South Prospect and Bloomfield.  After investigation it was determined that the odor was from an overnight gasoline delivery at a local service station.  

 

6:05 PM - Officer Tim Banta effected a motor vehicle stop on Bloomfield Avenue after he observed the operator who he knew had a suspended license.  The vehicle was impounded and summonses were issued for Driving While Suspended, Unregistered Vehicle and Uninsured Vehicle.

12:45 PM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of a lost driver’s license from a Forest Avenue resident.

 

1:10 PM - Officer Martin stopped a vehicle on Bloomfield Avenue for an equipment violation. Further investigation revealed the vehicle to be unregistered and uninsured.  The operator’s license was also suspended. Summonses were issued for all of the violations and the vehicle was impounded.

 

2:34 PM - Sgt Paul Watkins took a report of a solicitor from a Morningside Road residence.  The solicitor was seeking to pick up recycling materials from the resident.  The solicitor was advised of the Boro Ordinance regarding soliciting and stated they would comply.

11:23 AM - Officer O’Connor responded to a Stonewood Parkway residence to take a report of a dispute.  

 

14:40 PM – Sgt. Depoe took a report of lost property from a South Prospect Street resident.  

 

3:42 PM - Officer Banta arrested Anthony Bukowski for Driving While Intoxicated. While impounding the vehicle Lt. Kiernan observed a hypodermic needle on the front seat. Also discovered in the vehicle were several packages of CDS.  Mr. Bukowski was also charged with Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.

11:38 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of criminal mischief from two Bloomfield Avenue business owners. Both individuals reported discovering damage to their vehicles after using them earlier in the day. A tire on each vehicle had become separated from the car while driving and both vehicles had to be towed. The owners reported they had each parked their cars near their businesses the previous day. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

 

12:00 PM - Officer William Frazee arrested Stanley Winckowski of Paterson on an outstanding Verona Municpal Court warrant. After processing he was transported to the Essex County Jail.

5:04 PM - Officer Page Parsels responded to a Randolph Place residence and took a report of property damage. Water damage was observed due to a leak from a water heater. The water was shut off and the resident advised to contact a plumber.

 

8:28 PM - Officer Paul Watkins arrested Mark Apostolou of Livingston for driving while intoxicated. Mr. Apostolou was observed in his vehicle, which was parked and blocking a driveway on Malvern Place. After investigating, he was transported to the hospital for evaluation and medical care. Two summonses were issued.

4:39 AM - Sgt. Michael Traettino reported an eluding driver after he observed a suspicious vehicle traveling slowly on Martin Road. Once the driver had observed the officer, the vehicle accelerated traveling on Pompton Avenue and into Montclair. Sgt. Traettino lost sight of the vehicle near Gates Avenue in Montclair and the pursuit was terminated. The Montclair Police Department was notified.

 

9:32 AM - Officer William Frazee responded to a Forest Avenue residence and took a report of malicious mischief. The resident reported he discovered the air was let out of a tire on his vehicle which was parked in the driveway.

4:59 PM - Officer Timothy Banta arrested Darius Williams of Newark for possession of marijuana after a motor vehicle stop on Pompton Avenue.Mr. Williams, a passenger in the vehicle, had been observed prior to the stop rolling what appeared to a marijuana cigarette.After processing, he was issued a summons and released.

1:47 AM - Officer John Lecreux responded to a Grove Avenue location and took a report of an illegal entry into a vehicle. Sgt. Paul Watkins and Lt. Smith reported observing a male on a bicycle in the area. While checking the area Officer Ed Carattini located the bicycle in a driveway between two vehicles and heard what sounded like a person running from the area.A further check revealed damage to a fence on Ann Street and a vehicle which had been entered on Grove Avenue.Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle at this time.The area was checked for the suspect with negative results.

 

9:39 AM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of fraud from a Martin Road resident.The resident reported she was contacted by her bank regarding numerous charges on her credit account which appeared to be fraudulent.

12:45 PM - Officer Joel Martin responded to a Douglas Place location and took a report of malicious mischief.A Verizon representative reported someone cut the phone, cable and internet lines to a pole causing a service disruption.The incident is being investigated.

 

12:46 PM - Detective Sergeant Daniel Greco took a report of fraud from a Fairway Avenue resident.The resident reported several unauthorized charges on a credit account.

 

12:52 PM - Officer James Barry took a report of attempted fraud at a local church.A clergyman reported receiving a phone call from a suspicious male who was out of state and requested monetary assistance due to unfortunate circumstances.A check at a local residence mentioned by the male revealed no connection with this person.

 

1:57 PM - Sgt. Stephen DePoe took a report of fraud from an Elk Road resident.The resident reported finding several unexpected money orders in her mail box.A check with the US Postal service revealed they were fraudulent.The money orders were turned over to the postal service for investigation.

 

2:48 PM - Officer David Wardrope responded to a motor vehicle accident on Pompton Avenue and took a report.It appears a tree fell across the southbound side of the road, knocked down a utility pole with power lines, and struck a vehicle.The Verona Rescue Squad was contacted and responded along with Public Service and the Verona Public Works Department.Verizon, Comcast and the Department of Transportation were also notified.A check on the driver of the vehicle revealed minor injuries with refusal for transportation to the hospital.Pompton Avenue was closed to traffic for over an hour while cleanup and repairs were made.

7:13 AM - Officer Joel Martin impounded a motor vehicle after the driver was stopped for a violation. The vehicle owner was found to have expired insurance. Two summonses were issued. 

 

10:56 AM - Dispatcher T.J. Conroy turned in a large clamp which had been found in the roadway on Bloomfield Avenue. 

 

3:32 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a larceny at a Sunset Avenue residence. A Verona resident reported a satchel left on a porch overnight was stolen. Numerous identifiers, credit cards and jewelry were taken. 

 

9:36 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli responded to Pilgrim Plaza and took a report of a theft from a vehicle. A Montclair resident reported while he was at a fitness center his keys were removed from a locker and his vehicle was entered. Missing are a cell phone and a wallet containing numerous identifiers as well as several hundred dollars in cash.

4:53 PM - Officer Paul Watkins impounded a motor vehicle after he conducted a random computer check on the car which he observed traveling on Mt. Prospect Avenue. The vehicle was found to have an expired registration and the owner failed to exhibit insurance. Three summonses were issued.

6:57 AM - Sgt. Stephen DePoe and the Verona Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Verona Community Center. Upon arrival a smoke condition was observed and appeared to be coming from the elevator area. The power to the elevator was shut off and the smoke ejected from the building. The Building and Grounds Superintendent was on the scene and advised there was an apparent hydraulic line leak which dripped on to the motor of the elevator causing the smoke.  

 

11:52 AM - Officer William Frazee took a report of a larceny from a Laurel Court resident. The resident reported a theft of jewelry from his home sometime over the past several weeks.

The Verona Rescue Squad responded and evaluated a resident for smoke inhalation.

12:52 PM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of a larceny from a Bloomfield Avenue business. The business owner reported a large extension ladder and a display rack were taken that were located outside were taken sometime overnight. 

 

18:10 PM - Officer David Wardrope responded to the Pilgrim Plaza on a report of an unattended dog locked in a vehicle and concern over the high outdoor temperature. While attempting to locate the owner, a Montclair woman returned to the vehicle. She was issued a complaint for leaving her dog unattended in a vehicle under inhumane conditions.

8:22 AM - Officer Paul Watkins took a report of a dog bite from a Metuchen resident. The resident reported while jogging he was bitten by a loose dog on Durrell Street. The man was evaluated by the Verona Rescue Squad but refused further treatment. The dog owner was contacted and she advised her dog was up to date with all vaccinations.

1:51 PM - Officer William Frazee and the Verona Fire Department were dispatched to the Pilgrim Plaza Shopping Center on a report of a dumpster fire. The fire was contained to the dumpster and was extinguished by the fire department. 

 

3:50 PM - Officer Michael Barone responded to a Gordon Place residence and took a report of a stolen bicycle. The bicycle was apparently taken from the front lawn of the residence.

The officer observed Ms. Turner traveling on Bloomfield Avenue and after a random computer check on her vehicle, she was stopped for a suspended registration and driver’s license. 5:55 AM - Officer Ed Carattini arrested Cameron Wallace of Monclair for burglary. The officer was dispatched to a Martin Road residence after the owner reported observing Mr. Wallace attempt to gain entry into his home through a basement window. The suspect was found in the rear yard of the residence and placed under arrest. Mr. Wallace was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Resisting arrest and Possession of Burglary tools. After processing he was transported to the Essex County Jail.

11:50 AM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded to a Personette Avenue residence and took a report of property damage. The resident reported a large tree branch had fallen causing damage to a shed.

5:37 AM - Officer Erin McGarrity responded to a Glen Road residence on a report of a stolen vehicle. The resident reported observing an unknown actor driving his vehicle out of the driveway after backing onto his lawn and striking a fence.   A second vehicle belonging to the resident was entered and the glove box gone through, although nothing was missing. A check of the area for suspects proved negative. The vehicle information was entered into the state computer system and surrounding towns were notified. The vehicle was recovered later in Newark.

 

5:54 AM - While investigating a stolen motor vehicle on Glen Road, Officer Erin McGarrity was advised that a neighbor also had their vehicles entered. Sgt. Michael Traettino responded and took a report. The resident reported his vehicle was gone through and a purse containing numerous identifiers, cash and jewelry were taken.  

 

11:18 AM - Sgt. Stephen DePoe responded to a White Rock Road location and took a report of property damage. A contractor working in the area reported his vehicle passenger side window was shattered while it was parked. Landscape contractors were in the area but denied causing the damage. 

 

11:33 AM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded to an Overlook Park residence and took a report of an attempted burglary. The resident reported noticing damage to a storm window frame on the home and a family member reported being awakened by a noise in the middle of the night several days ago. 

 

3:37 PM - Officer Timothy Banta arrested Dylan Meade of Verona after executing a search warrant for narcotics. Mr. Meade was charged with Possession and Distribution of CDS, Oxycodone, and driving while under the influence. Several complaints and motor vehicle summonses were issued. After processing and posting bail he was released. 

 

4:20 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a larceny from a Montclair resident. The resident reported while at Platinum Fitness she left her cell phone on an exercise machine and when she went to retrieve it, it had been taken. 

 

8:20 PM - Officer Robert Shafer responded to a Linden Avenue residence and took a report of a burglary. The resident reported someone entered his garage and stole an antique bicycle.

Upon returning to the restaurant, the wallet was missing. A local resident found the wallet on Personette Avenue and turned it over to the police department. Missing is approximately $90.00 in cash. 

 

8:34 PM - Officer Timothy Banta impounded a vehicle observed traveling on Grove Avenue after stopping the driver for speeding. A check of the credentials showed a suspended registration as well as no insurance on the vehicle. Several summonses were issued.

12:44 PM - Officer Robert Shafer responded to a Grove Avenue home and took a report of a burglary. The resident reported someone cut the screen on an enclosed porch and removed several items from the porch. 

 

1:40 PM - Officer Robert Shafer impounded a vehicle after investigating a motor vehicle accident. A parked vehicle, which had been struck by another vehicle, was found to be uninsured and unregistered. Two summonses were issued.

7:41 AM - Officer James Barry took a report of a larceny from a South Prospect Street resident. The resident reported the larceny of cash from her home. 

 

11:05 AM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of fraud from a Linn Drive resident. The resident reported someone used his information to obtain a credit account and charged several thousand dollars with of plastic surgery on the fraudulent card. 

 

11:42 AM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of identity theft from a Martin Road resident. The resident reported receiving a bill for fraudulent charges against her debit account over the past several months.

1:30 PM - Lt. Bruce Smith took a report of a larceny from a Douglas Place resident. The resident reported while at a night club in New York City earlier that morning, someone stole her diamond ring valued in the thousands.

12:26 PM - Sgt. Stephen DePoe responded to Verona Park after receiving a report of a suspicious backpack observed on the ground. The Essex County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Unit responded and inspected the backpack, which upon further investigation revealed school papers and notebooks. The backpack was found to have been left behind by a local youth and it was returned to him. 

 

3:45 PM - Officer Michael Barone arrested Cyrus Kersey of Verona on an outstanding Newark Municipal Court warrant. After processing and posting bail he was released.

9:02 AM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded to Sampson Drive and took a report of malicious mischief. A Board of Education employee reported numerous phrases were spray painted on the roadway with white paint.

8:08 AM - Officer William Frazee responded to a Woodland Avenue location on a report of found property. A bicycle which had been abandoned was taken to headquarters. 

 

8:46 AM - Officer William Frazee took a report of stolen property from a Montclair resident. The resident reported while at a Verona business her keys were taken from a locker room. 

 

1:45 PM - Officer William Frazee took a report and numerous officers responded, after a report of several juveniles setting a brush fire in a wooded area near Brookdale Avenue School.   The remains of a small fire were located and had apparently self extinguished. Several youths were detained, questioned and turned over to a parent or guardian. Complaints may be signed.

6:54 AM - Officer James Barry took a report of a suspicious person from a Martin Road resident. 

 

7:25 AM - Officer William Frazee responded to the Forest Avenue school and took a report of property damage. Two portable soccer nets were found torn on the school field.  

 

8:40 AM - While on patrol Officer William Frazee observed a damaged parking meter at a Bloomfield Avenue location. Upon further inspection it was noted that the meter lock was damaged and an unknown amount of change was missing. 

 

2:09 PM - Officer William Frazee took a report of a lost or stolen wallet from a Verona resident. 

 

06/18/2011 

11:43 AM - Officer William Frazee responded to a Park Place business and took a report of a stolen vehicle. The business owner reported while she was in and out of the business loading her vehicle, someone entered it and drove away. The vehicle information was entered into the state computer system as stolen. Also taken was a purse, which was in the vehicle, containing numerous identifiers as well as some cash. 

 

3:08 PM - Officer James Barry responded to a Woodland Avenue residence and took a report of a burglary. The resident reported someone cut a window screen to gain entry into her home. Reported missing at this time is a piece of diamond jewelry.  

 

10:45 PM - Officer Steven Young responded and took a report of a dispute on Park Avenue. The individuals were spoken to and then advised of complaint procedures. 

 

11:26 PM - Officer John Lecreux responded to a Durrell Street location and took a report of a fire in a parking lot. A witness reported observing several juveniles in the area carrying a torch when one of the set fire to the contents of a drum. Upon arrival Officer Lecreux observed two small fires. Using extinguishers, Officer Lecreux, assisted by Officer Steven Young extinguished the fires. The Fire Department responded to make sure both fires were thoroughly extinguished. A torch found in the area was taken as evidence.

5:31 PM - Officer Page Parsels responded to a Harrison Street residence and took a report of property damage due to flooding from a severe rain storm. 

 

8:24 PM - Officer Ed Carattini responded to a Hillside Avenue residence and took a report of property damage due to a severe rain storm. The resident reported mud from a building lot made its way into his pool and filter. 

 

12:30 PM - Officer Joel Martin responded to a report of criminal mischief near the Franklin Street Bridge. An anonymous individual reported observing juveniles possibly setting a fire. Upon the officer’s arrival, he found a small pile of what appeared to be miscellaneous school papers smoldering. The Verona Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The matter will be forwarded to the Juvenile Officer.

 

06/16/2011 

7:05 AM - Officer Ron Thorward was dispatched to a Martin Road residence and took a report of a stolen vehicle. The resident reported sometime overnight his 2010 Acura was stolen from the driveway. The glove box of a second vehicle parked in the driveway was ransacked but nothing appears to be missing. The stolen vehicle information was entered into the state computer system. 

 

7:27 AM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded to a Woodland Avenue residence and took a report of a stolen vehicle. The resident reported sometime overnight his 2009 Nissan was stolen from the driveway. The vehicle information was entered into the state computer system as stolen. 

 

9:17 AM - Officer James Barry responded to a Martin Road residence and took a report of a stolen vehicle. The resident reported sometime overnight her vehicle was taken from her driveway.

 

12:27 PM - Officer James Barry responded to a Fairview Avenue location and took a report of property damage. A Verona resident reported while her vehicle was parked a window was shattered by an unknown object

 

12:37 PM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded to a Woodland Avenue residence and took a report of an illegal entry into a vehicle. The resident reported her vehicle was entered and the glove box contents were strewn about the vehicle.   Nothing was reported missing at this time.

 

1:47 PM - Officer James Barry took a report of a theft from a Grove Avenue business owner. The owner reported cash was taken from a reception area of the business. 

 

4:30 PM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded to a Bloomfield Avenue office and took a report of property damage. An employee reported parking her vehicle earlier and upon returning found a large concrete cinder block on the hood of the car. Damage was observed to the hood and windshield. 

 

5:05 PM - Officer Page Parsels took a report of an illegal entry to a vehicle. A Woodland Avenue resident reported her vehicle had been entered and the contents of the glove box had been rummaged through. Nothing appears to be missing.

9:13 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of fraud from a Morningside Road resident. The resident reported his information was compromised after he received a fraudulent email. 

 

7:10 PM - Officer Michael Barone arrested Charles Evans of Newark on several outstanding out of township warrants. Mr. Evans was attending court when the outstanding warrants were discovered. After processing he was transported to the Newark Police Department.

6:46 PM - Officer David Wardrope responded to a Cambridge Road residence and took a report of a burglary. The residents reported returning home after several days and discovering several items missing. A check of the home revealed entry was most likely gained through an open window. Missing are several televisions, a radio and personal identifiers. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

8:51 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a Bloomfield Avenue location and took a report of an injury due to a fall. A Newark resident was transported to the hospital with shoulder pain. 

 

12:11 - PM Officer Page Parsels arrested Gina Donzella of Nutley on several outstanding out of township warrants. After processing she was advised of a new court appearance date and released. 

 

4:08 PM - Officer John Lecreux responded to a Wedgewood Drive residence and took a report of water damage due to a faulty valve. 

 

5:05 PM - Officer John Lecreux took a report of harassing emails from a Westover Road resident. The resident reported receiving the emails after an Ebay transaction.

10:13 PM - Officer Robert Shafer responded to a Park Avenue location and took a report of an illegal entry into a vehicle. A Bloomfield resident reported returning to her parked vehicle and finding the window shattered and the vehicle entered. The vehicle was checked and it appears the glove box was opened and rifled through. Nothing appears to be missing at this time. 

 

06/11/2011 

2:13 AM - Sgt. Michael Traettino responded to a Forest Avenue residence on a report of a car alarm sounding. The resident reported looking out the window when the alarm sounded and noticed the activation of his motion lights soon after. The vehicle was checked and nothing appeared to be missing. While checking the area for any suspects, officers on the scene heard another alarm sounding in the area and were soon dispatched to another Forest Avenue residence where the resident reported a burglary.   The resident reported he found an open screen and window to the home, and muddy footprints on a rug. The residents were secured in the living room while the home was searched by officers with negative results. Surrounding township police departments were contacted, advised and set up a perimeter to check for any suspects. The Essex County Sheriff’s Department responded with a K-9. Tracking by the dog was attempted but due to the numerous thunder storms, no scent could be detected. Nothing appears to be missing from the home. Officer Steven Young took the report and the Detective Bureau is investigating.

2:36 AM - Officer Erin McGarrity arrested Adrian Savino of Glen Ridge and charged him with driving while intoxicated after investigating a one vehicle accident at the corner of Bloomfield and Park Avenues. Both Mr. Savino and a passenger were taken to the hospital for their injuries. A local business sustained damage to a retaining wall, landscaping and lighting. 

 

11:19 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of malicious mischief from a Linden Avenue resident. The resident reported someone pulled off a light fixture from a pillar on his property.

3:34 PM - Officer Robert Shafer took a report of lost property from a Hawthorne resident. The resident reported while in Verona she lost her wallet containing numerous identifiers as well as cash. She was provided with an identity theft guide. 

 

9:14 PM - Officer David Wardrope responded to Claridge Drive and took a report of an injury to a resident. The resident reported while walking towards an entrance door a cat fell from an apartment and struck her in the head. She complained of head and neck pain but refused any medical treatment other than an ice pack. The injured cat, which had fallen from the second floor, was taken to the Montclair Animal Shelter.

2:18 AM - Officer Ed Carattini arrested Christopher Dubose of Orange for possession of crack cocaine. Mr. Dubose was stopped after the officer observed him travel through a stop sign on Sunset Avenue. After processing he was issued several complaints and motor vehicle summonses and was transported to the Essex County Jail. 

1:50 PM - Officer Page Parsels took a report of fraud from a Lanning Road resident. The resident reported after filling out personal information on line someone attempted to access her bank account. 

3:29 PM - Sgt. Michael Ruglio took a report of an attempted motor vehicle theft at a Bloomfield Avenue car wash. The car wash manager reported a male had entered the establishment and then sat on a bench in front of the business. When a vehicle came out of the wash, the male walked over to the vehicle and attempted to drive it away. Upon seeing the male have trouble getting the vehicle into gear, he was approached by a supervisor and asked if the vehicle was his. The male then exited the vehicle and walked away. He was last seen cutting through an adjacent wooded area. Police responded and conducted a search of the area with negative results.

1:47 PM - Officer William Frazee took a report of fraud from a Brentwood Drive resident. The resident reported someone accessed her personal information to make an unauthorized debit on her account. 

 

3:29 PM - Officer William Frazee took a report and several Verona Police officers responded after a NJ Transit worker reported a passenger may have a gun on the bus. An Elizabeth resident reported while she was on the bus and on her cell phone another passenger told her to shut up and said he had a gun. After identifying the male suspect, all other passengers were asked to exit the bus. Upon speaking with and searching the male no gun was found. The bus driver also reported he didn’t hear or witness any threats. The male was removed from the bus and all the other passengers returned and were allowed to continue on their way.   The male was checked for any outstanding warrants with negative results, and was advised to wait for the next available bus to continue on his way.

4:01 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli responded to Wildwood Terrace and took a report of property damage. A Pompton Plains resident reported while traveling on the street a tree branch fell shattering her windshield.

05/15/2011 

2:05 AM - Sgt. Michael Traettino responded and took a report of a burglary at a Morningside Road residence. A resident reported upon returning home he entered the kitchen and from there went to enter a bathroom. Upon opening the door he observed a male crawling out of the window.   The other residents were awakened and the police were contacted. Apparently the window screen had been cut to gain access. A check of the area was negative, and nothing appears to be missing. The Detective Bureau will be investigating. 

 

2:55 AM - Officer Ron Thorward took a report of a burglary at a West Lincoln Street residence. The resident reported confronting an intruder after being awakened by a noise. Upon screaming for him to leave the intruder left through the open window he apparently used to gain entry. The several area police departments were advised and assisted in checking the area. Nothing appears to be missing at this time. 

 

10:47 AM - Sgt. Stephen DePoe took a report of a theft from a vehicle. While conducting a follow up canvass of the area a Morningside Road resident reported his vehicle was entered sometime during the night and an unknown amount of change was taken from his parked vehicle. 

 

1:04 PM - Officer William Frazee responded to a Morningside Road residence and took a report of an attempted burglary. The resident reported sometime during the night someone tried to gain access to his home by cutting an exterior window screen. No entry was gained.

10:00 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to the Verona High School and took a report of malicious mischief. Principal Glen Cesa reported someone damaged the tennis court nets and a mechanical device used for the nets.

6:18 PM - Officer David Wardrope responded to Pilgrim Plaza and took a report of a larceny from a vehicle. A business employee reported her vehicle was entered and numerous identifiers as well as cash was stolen from her vehicle. She was provided with an Identity Theft Pamphlet. 

 

05/11/2011

4:01 AM - Officer Ron Thorward took a report of a theft from a vehicle at a Mountain Road residence. The officer was on patrol when he observed a suspicious person running from the driveway of the home and enter a waiting vehicle. After a short pursuit the officer lost sight of the suspect’s vehicle which was traveling at a high rate of speed. The resident reported a bag with several items was taken from her vehicle. 

 

6:01 PM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of a lost wallet. An out of township resident reported while walking in Verona she lost her wallet containing numerous identifiers as well as credit/debit cards. While reporting the loss to the bank and closing the account she was advised that someone had used the card to make a purchase.  

 

6:43 PM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded to a Forest Avenue residence and took a report of a theft from a vehicle. The resident’s reported sometime over the past few days several pieces of jewelry were taken from their vehicle which was parked in the driveway. No sign of forced entry was observed.

9:36 PM - Officer Robert Shafer took a report of a robbery from a Pompton Avenue business employee. The employee reported he was robbed by two men after closing and leaving a store with a night deposit. The Detective Bureau responded for the investigation. Approximately $270.00 was stolen. 

 

10:19 PM - Officer Robert Shafer took a report of a found debit card. The owner was located and the card returned.

Mr. Spera was observed lying on the grass next to his bicycle on a side of Fairview Avenue and in the process of a welfare check the warrants were found. After processing he was released. 

 

4:15 PM - Officer Michael Barone responded to a Bloomfield Avenue business and took a report of an eye injury. An employee reported she struck her eye while picking up an item off of the floor. She was transported to the hospital.

1:52 AM - Sgt. Michael Traettino arrested David Faulkner of Rockaway after conducting a random computer check on a vehicle traveling on Claremont Avenue. The check revealed a warrant for the registered owner.  

 

1:46 PM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne and the Verona Rescue Squad responded to a Lakeside Avenue location on a report of an injury due to a fall. An East Orange resident was transported to the hospital for pain to his knee. 

 

3:19 PM - Officer Timothy Banta took a report of property damage from a Linden Avenue resident. The resident reported damage to the siding on her home. 

 

4:51 PM - Lt. Chris Kiernan responded to a Pompton Avenue office and took a report of a larceny. An employee reported his cell phone and a prescription medication were taken from his desk while he was in another part of the building. Due to the holiday most of the offices were closed and a check of the building proved negative for a suspect. Officer Banta conducted a check of several other offices in the area and several reported observing an unknown male in the area.

3:59 PM - Officer Timothy Banta responded to a Belleclaire Place location and took a report of a suspicious vehicle. 

 

4:31 PM - Officer Page Parsels responded to a Bloomfield Avenue office building on a report of alarm activation and took a report of a break and entry. Several offices on a second floor were found unsecured, however, nothing appeared to be missing. While checking the building an additional alarm for a first floor office was received. Officer’s Michael Barone and Lt. Chris Kiernan responded. Officer Barone reported entry was gained by prying an entry door. The reception area, as well as an attached office appeared to have been were gone through. Missing at this time are several days worth of office receipts. Upon checking an additional office, pry marks were found on a door, however, no entry was gained. Detective Michael Harringston responded and will be conducting an investigation.

Nothing appears to be missing and apparently no entry was gained. Officer Robert Shafer also responded and assisted with canvassing the neighborhood residents for any observed suspicious activity.

8:29 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a Franklin Street residence and took a report of property damage due to a water/sewer backup. At 10:13 AM another Franklin Street resident reported the same problem. The Department of Public Works was on the scene and took appropriate action. 

 

11:50 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of fraud from a Hillside Avenue resident after someone accessed a credit account and made several charges.

 

03/26/2011 

Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a Martin Road residence and took a report of an attempted entry. A resident reported the attempted entry when he discovered a window screen had been cut near the locking mechanism and the window was completely open. The resident also reported being awakened by his dog around 2:30 AM, when the dog began barking. A canvass of the neighborhood also revealed a neighbor’s motion lights illuminated around the same time. No entry was gained and nothing appears to be missing.

03/25/2011  

9:48 PM - Officer Michael Barone issued a complaint to Brian Conover of Verona for offering an alcoholic beverage to a minor. An investigation of a reported an ill juvenile led to checks at several Verona residences for information, and led to a Franklin Street residence where several adults and juveniles had been gathered and alcohol had been present.

  

8:53 AM - Officer James Barry arrested Paul Brummell of Piscataway on an outstanding out of township warrant. Mr. Brummell was stopped after the officer observed him operating his vehicle on Grove Avenue with a rejected DMV sticker. A computer check revealed the warrant. After processing he was held until the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department took him into custody.

7:16 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a Westland Road residence and took a report of property damage. The resident reported damage to two vehicles after a large tree branch fell onto them. 

4:01 PM - Officer Timothy Banta arrested Nathanael Hillman of Montclair on an outstanding out of township warrant after a motor vehicle stop on Bloomfield Avenue. Mr. Hillman was a passenger in a vehicle whose driver was observed texting by Officer Banta and subsequently stopped. After paying for the summons, he was released.

10:52 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a Bloomfield Avenue business on a report of an assault. An employee reported he was assaulted by a customer after a dispute over a gasoline purchase.

The residents reported someone removed a box with personal items and identifiers from their home. There was no sign of forced entry, however a ladder located in the yard had been moved. Several items were reported found by the Fairfield Police Department on a local road and returned to the residents.

9:11 PM - Officer David Wardrope arrested William Smith of Montville for driving while intoxicated. Mr. Smith was stopped on Linn Drive after the officer observed him driving erratically on Bloomfield Avenue. Four summonses, including refusal to submit to breath testing were issued.

Due to the tree falling, damage was observed to a utility pole, electrical wires and cable and phone wires to a home on Beechwood Road. 7:19 PM - Officer Timothy Banta arrested Gregory Hemmerle of Verona and charged him with distributing CDS, specifically marijuana and Oxycodone within the Township of Verona. After processing and the issuance of complaints he was transported to the Essex County Jail on $50,000.00 bail. 

 

10:54 PM - While on patrol Officer McGarrity was advised by a local resident of a possible smoke condition in a restaurant. Upon checking light smoke was observed in the closed business. The Verona Fire Department was dispatched and the business owner was notified. Found was a food item that had been left in a low temperature oven, which had caused the smoke condition. 

 

02/28/2011

10:56 AM - Officer John Lecreux took a report of a disabled truck after he was alerted by a passerby that a tractor trailer was stuck on Claridge Drive. The truck driver, in an attempt to turn around, had completely blocked the road and had mounted the curb and was stuck in the mud. The Department of Public Works as well as a towing company responded. Summonses will be issued. 

 

8:43 PM - Officer Michael Barone responded to an Elmwood Road residence and took a report of malicious mischief. 

 

02/27/2011 

2:20 AM - Officer Erin McGarrity responded to a Cambridge Road residence and took a report of a burglary.   A resident reported upon returning home she observed an unknown male exiting the house. A search of the area was immediately conducted by patrols and Cedar Grove Police units with negative results. Missing is some cash from the kitchen area. The Detective Bureau will investigate. 

 

7:55 AM - Officer William Frazee responded to a Bloomfield Avenue store and took a report of property damage. An assistant manager reported graffiti was noticed in a bathroom on the premises. 

 

6:57 PM - Officer Robert Shafer responded to a Mountain Road residence and took a report of an attempted fraud. 

 

9:58 PM - Officer Robert Shafer responded to a Pompton Avenue residence and took a report of a stolen vehicle. The resident reported he left his vehicle running with the trunk open while inside his home. He then heard the trunk close and upon checking observed someone pull the vehicle out of the driveway and drive off. A check of the area was negative for the vehicle. The surrounding towns were notified via radio and the vehicle information was entered into the state computer system as stolen.

1:53 AM - Officer Ed Carattini arrested George Tsimpedes of Clifton and charged him with attempted burglary. Mr. Tsimpedes was attempting to gain entry to an acquaintance’s residence with a screw driver after the resident had denied him entry when he rang the door bell.  

7:00 PM - Officer Page Parsels arrested Gary Pannullo of Caldwell for driving while under the influence. Mr. Pannullo was taken into custody as the officer was investigating a motor vehicle accident at Bloomfield Avenue and Malvern Place.

8:47 AM - Officer William Frazee responded to a Bloomfield Avenue business and took a report of a possible attempted fraud. An employee reported someone attempted to pay for an item with a one hundred dollar bill she felt was counterfeit. After she wouldn’t accept it the merchandise was paid with a five dollar bill.

12:37 PM - Officer William Frazee took a report of harassment from a Marion Road resident. 

 

2:49 - Parking Enforcement Officer Susan DeWitt reported the theft of a parking meter from Bloomfield Avenue. The value of the meter is approximately $500.00.

12:21 PM - Officer John Lecreux was dispatched to the Pilgrim Plaza on a report of a dispute. Found were two individuals involved in a verbal argument over a parking space. Both were spoken with and advised of complaint procedures. 

 

4:34 PM - Officer Timothy Banta arrested Lewis Cannon of Newark on an outstanding out of township warrant. After processing he was released.

1:09 PM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of fraud from a Laurel Court resident. The resident reported someone accessed her credit card and made several unauthorized charges. The bank was notified.

6:09 PM – Ptl. Anthony Condorelli and Robert Shafer responded to the Essex County Probation Office in East Orange to pick up a subject on a Verona Warrant. After processing, the subject posted bail and was released. 

 

02/08/2011 

12:36 PM - Ptl. Anthony O’Connor responded to an Otsego Rd residence on a report of a Burglary. The resident reported being on the second floor and hearing a loud banging coming from the first floor. Upon checking the resident found an unknown actor had damaged the lock and glass on the side door to gain entry.   Nothing was reported missing from the residence. 

 

1:13 PM – Ptl. Joseph Ballantyne responded to a Linden Ave Residence on a report of a burglary. Investigation revealed that an unknown actor had cut a kitchen screen and opened the kitchen window to gain access. Reported missing are jewelry and a laptop computer.  

 

02/07/2011 

6:47 PM - Ptl. Michael Barone responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a Pine Street residence on a report of an odor of something burning. A fire was located in a 2nd floor bedroom. It was determined that the fire was caused by a space heater that was placed in close proximity to the bed. The fire was extinguished and damage was contained to the bedroom.

11:09 AM - Ptl. William Frazee took a report from a Verona resident who struck a pothole on Mt. Prospect Avenue and damaged the passenger front tire of her vehicle.

8:25 AM - Ptl. Joseph Ballantyne responded to a Claremont Ave residence and took a report from the homeowner regarding a dispute with a contractor over roof repairs. 

 

7:20 PM – Ptl. Barone, Wardrope and Condorelli responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Mount Prospect Avenue and Sunset Avenue. One of the operators, Peter Vasquez, was arrested for driving under the influence. The Verona Rescue Squad responded and treated 3 patients. 

 

02/04/2011 

11:30 AM - Ptl. Joel Martin took a report from Enterprise Rental Car regarding a vehicle that had not been returned by the date specified in the contract. A complaint was completed with the Verona Municipal Court and the vehicle was subsequently entered as stolen. 

 

9:55 PM - Ptl. Dave Wardrope responded to a Linden Ave home on a report of unwanted individuals at the home. The officer spoke to the four individuals and advised them not to return to the home.

12:22 PM - Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a motor vehicle accident at Bloomfield Avenue and West Lincoln Street after a report of a bicyclist stuck by a motor vehicle. A Verona resident had been stuck by an unknown vehicle and pushed into another vehicle while traveling east. The resident was transported to the hospital with leg and back injuries. The accident is under investigation.

6:12 PM - Officer David Wardrope responded to the Verona High School on a report of an injury.   A student with an arm injury was transported to the hospital by the Verona Rescue Squad.

08:40AM - Sgt. Bruce Smith spoke to the Township school crossing guard located at Bloomfield Ave & Grove Ave in reference to an icy condition. According to the guard she injured her left knee as a result of falling on an icy patch of sidewalk positioned on the east side of Grove Ave near the rear entrance to 650 Bloomfield Ave. She also observed that several other pedestrians had also fallen in the same area while on her post.

10:14 AM - Officer John Lecreux impounded a vehicle found parked on Hillcrest Terrace for an expired registration. One summons was issued.

12:40 AM - Officer Ron Thorward responded to a Bloomfield Avenue apartment building on a report of an odor of natural gas. The Verona Fire Department and Public Service were contacted and responded. The residents were evacuated until Public Service located the leak, which was found to be outside of the building. The gas was shut off and the residents were allowed to return to the building while Public Service made repairs.

10:07 AM - Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of a lost property from a Montclair resident. The resident reported she lost her wallet while shopping at Pilgrim Plaza. Numerous personal identifiers, credit cards and cash were in the wallet. 

 

10:41 AM - Officer William Frazee took a report of fraud from an Afterglow Avenue resident. The resident reported someone used her information to make several purchases on her debit card.

2:36 PM - Officer Michael Barone took a report and the Verona Rescue Squad responded for a victim of a fall in front of a Bloomfield Avenue business.

3:34 PM - Officer Robert Shafer responded to a Grove Ave business and took a report of a lost wallet from a Bloomfield resident. The victim reports at some point during his visit, he misplaced his wallet. The wallet is a black bi-fold with various forms of identification, and along with several business and credit cards.

1:38 AM - Officer Anthony Condorelli impounded a vehicle from Montrose Ave that was left on the roadway due to the snow emergency. A summons was issued as well.

 

6:00 PM - Officer David Wardrope responded to a Green Acres Drive location and took a report of an attempted theft. The building superintendent reported someone attempted to pry open several coin operated laundry machines. The metal on the machines were damaged however, no entry was gained to the coin boxes.

8:15 AM - Officer Paul Watkins arrested Peter Vincent of Bayonne on an outstanding Verona Municipal Court warrant. After processing he was transported to the Essex County Jail.

 

11:17 AM - Officer William Frazee took a report of lost or stolen keys from a Verona resident. The resident reported later that she had located the property.

12:28 - AM Officer Paul Watkins and Officer Ed Carattini responded to a Bloomfield Avenue parking lot on a noise complaint. A check on the complaint resulted in the arrest of two individuals who were found with a group in a yard near the parking lot.   Brian Hardenberg of Verona was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest and Zachary Marino of Verona was charged with making alcoholic beverages available to underaged individuals. Fourteen other individuals were sent on their way and one juvenile was turned over to a parent.

11:38 AM - Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a Grove Avenue residence and took a report of found property. The resident reported finding a wallet while in the parking lot of a Pompton Avenue business.   The owner, also a Verona resident was located and the property returned. The owner reported cash missing from the wallet. 

 

12:50 PM - Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of lost jewelry from a Derwent Avenue resident. 

 

6:21 PM - Officer Robert Shafer took a report of fraud from a Marion Road resident. The resident reported several unauthorized charges on a debit account. The resident notified the bank and cancelled the account. 

 

9:37 PM - Officer David Wardrope responded to a Claremont Avenue residence on a check for a possible burglary in progress. The resident reported while in the home he heard knocking and someone attempted to open his basement door. A check of the home showed the basement door was ajar, however nothing else was disturbed.
