Instructions to apply for NJSP Concealed Carry Permit

In order to be approved and receive a permit to carry a handgun in the State of NJ, you need to file an application and be approved. Please follow the instructions below properly.

Applicants must follow the instructions provided by the New Jersey State Police. Please click below:

The Concealed Carry Permits service allows for online submission of both initial and renewal applications. Approved applications are due for renewal every two (2) years. Renewal applications can be submitted up to four (4) months before the expiration date. Concealed Carry Permit applicants need to have been fingerprinted for firearms purposes in New Jersey and assigned an SBI number before they can apply for a Concealed Carry Permit. If you have never been fingerprinted for firearms purposes in New Jersey before, start with an application for an Initial Firearms I.D. card.

Verona residents applying through the NJ Concealed Carry Permits service should use the Verona Police ORI NJ0072000, when submitting their application.

NJ Office of the Attorney General (DAG, AAG) employees, Prosecutors, Judges, Mayors, elected municipal Officials and armored car employees must submit their application to a New Jersey State Police ORI for processing. Further guidance can be obtained from the NJSP concealed carry permit service portal for applicants meeting these criteria.
